Metal Smithing

I always love learning new techniques and ways to improve my jewelry!
In these pictures I was sawing away triangles to fit the vintage button I was setting in the bezel,  I made the bezel, ring and platform, all cut from sterling silver sheet metal and torch soldered by me!
Working with a torch was really cool! Can't wait to take more classes so I can learn more! :)

First experiment with my new Vintaj Bigkick Machine!   I ordered a flower bigz die from Sissix.  I  have so many ideas!  It embosses  and cuts metal and paper. It can cut through  metal, leather, felt, paper, grunge board and fabric!  This should  keep me off the crack for a while :)

layer 1 of stag dream / Crafting Acquisition - Vintaj BigKick! :)

quickly laid down some color - I am totally out of turpentine.  Need to order walnut seed oil!  Never had 3 paintings going on at once. Getting ready to start another one.  Haven't done oils in a long time.  Still getting used to it.  :)
Next project will be bullet necklaces :)
Just got one of these babies:
Vintaj Bigkick Machine - vintaj teamed up with sissix to make a sweet baby!
It cuts leather, fabric, metal, embosses, and etches ( well not really etches but a light emboss. Very impressive little rolling press.  Best of all if backwards compatible with other sissix products.  Great for jewelry making. Will post results soon.  Yay for amazon text book trade in! :)

Top 5 Ways to Ruin a Painting -- 5 Mistakes to Avoid in a Painting:

'via Blog this'5. Not Knowing When to Stop ( so true!)  :)

Painting classes tend to focus on how to paint, rarely do they teach when to stop painting, how to judge when you've done enough and ought to step away from your easel. Overworking has destroyed many a successful painting. The moment you find yourself mostly satisfied with a painting and think you'll "just quickly" do this or that, that's the moment to stop completely. Take the painting off your easel and put it aside for at least 24 hours, then reassess whether it really needs that tweak.
